Veneers
A veneer is a thin piece of porcelain used to re-create the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel. They are custom made to the contour of your teeth so you can rest assured they will look and feel just like your natural teeth. Most people will not even be able to tell you have veneers due to their similar appearance. The picture-perfect smile you’ve always wanted awaits you. Veneers are a less intrusive option than crowns. Veneers can be used to close gaps or correct small misalignments. Patients also choose veneers as a cosmetic solution to enhance the brightness of their teeth, correcting issues like discoloration, fractures, and chips. How is a veneer applied?
Veneers usually require two visits – one to prepare the tooth and one to apply the veneer. During the first visit, a very small amount of tooth material is removed to make room for the veneer so it fits comfortably on the tooth surface without overlapping neighboring teeth. An impression is taken and sent to the lab where the veneer will be created. The tint is also selected during this appointment, and a temporary veneer may be made using composites to protect the tooth while the veneer is being made. At the second visit, the tooth surface will be cleaned and the veneer will be applied using a strong dental adhesive, then gently shaped for a comfortable fit
Teeth Whitening
How does it work? Teeth whitening is accomplished by release of the oxygen ion in close proximity to tooth structure. Overall whitening depends on the number of oxygen ions available and amount of time they are on tooth structure. Oxygen ions enter enamel and dentin and are attracted to the double bonds of stain molecules. The ions attack and destroy the double bonds leaving shorter stain molecules that are more easily soluble and removed from the tooth by oral fluids. The key is the release of adequate numbers of oxygen ions and a carrying gel that pushes the ions into the tooth. Teeth whitening helps remove stains and also discoloration of teeth.
The predictability of tooth whitening comes from a correct diagnosis of staining. Predictability also depends on:

– Patient habits that may contribute to staining
– True expectations
– Patient compliance
